Key Usage Points for PVC Granules in Toys

1. Raw Material Safety: Only phthalate-free, environmentally friendly PVC pellets shall be used, complying with standards such as EN71 and ASTM F963. The content of heavy metals (such as lead and cadmium) must be below the statutory limits.

2. Process Parameters

Drying: 70–80°C, 2–3 hours.

Molding temperature: 160–190°C for injection molding, 150–180°C for extrusion. Never exceed 200°C to prevent thermal degradation.

3. Molds and Design: All edges must be rounded (R ≥ 0.5 mm) to eliminate sharp corners and edges. Small components that are prone to detachment should be avoided.

4. Mandatory Testing

Physics: Small-part testing, tensile testing.

Chemistry: Plasticizer migration and soluble heavy metal testing.

5. Labeling and Documentation: The product must bear an age-appropriateness warning label (e.g., “Not suitable for children under 3 years of age”). Each batch of raw materials must be accompanied by a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and a Certificate of Conformity (COC).

How to use

1. Material Preparation and Pre-treatment

Drying: Typically, drying is carried out at 70–80°C for 2–4 hours to prevent moisture from adversely affecting processing performance.

Ingredient Mixing: Accurately weigh ingredients according to the formulation and pre-mix using a high-speed mixer for 3–5 minutes.

Temperature Control: Ensure the barrel temperature is maintained within the range of 160–190°C.

2. Key Points of the Manufacturing Process

Extrusion process (profiles, pipes):

A screw length-to-diameter ratio of ≥25:1 is recommended, with a tapered screw design.

The die temperature is controlled at 175–185°C.

3. Injection Molding Process:

Injection pressure: 80–120 MPa; mold temperature: 40–60°C.

Holding time should be adjusted according to the product thickness.

4. Calendering Process:

Roller temperature: 170–180°C; pay attention to tension control during winding.

Equipment and Mold Requirements

The equipment shall be corrosion-resistant (material containing flame retardant).

The runner design should be smooth and free of dead corners, and the mold surface is recommended to be chrome-plated.

5. Key Considerations

Processing temperature: Strictly prohibit exceeding 210°C to prevent material degradation.

Cleaning requirements: The equipment must be thoroughly cleaned when changing materials.

Flame-retardant synergy: Synergists may be appropriately added to enhance flame-retardant performance.

Recycling: Scrap material can be crushed and reused at a specified ratio (≤30%).

6. Security and Storage

Store in a cool, dry place; ensure adequate ventilation in the processing area; and require operators to wear protective equipment.
